family

Dear stranger,

I don't remember the last time my parents asked me if I was okay. They ask about my job. They ask about my salary. They ask why I don't smile in family photos anymore. But nobody asks why I sit alone in my room for hours. Somewhere along the way, I became a project instead of a son. Every conversation feels like an interview. Every mistake feels like a disappointment. I know they love me—I really do—but sometimes love without understanding feels incredibly lonely. I smile at dinner. I joke when relatives visit. I say "I'm just tired" because it's easier than explaining what's happening inside my head. The truth is, I'm exhausted from pretending I'm okay. If you're reading this and you feel invisible in your own home, I want you to know you're not the only one. Your emotions are real, even if nobody around you notices them yet. Maybe one day we'll both find a place where we don't have to explain why we're hurting. Until then... I hope you keep going.
